Biographical Information

Pastor Carroll Johnson, Jr. was born and educated in Baltimore, MD. He is a graduate of Baltimore City College and the Johns Hopkins University where he majored in Business & Industrial Management. He was a Manager for Bell Atlantic and spent his last years there as a Computer Consultant and Instructor before leaving to found his own Consultant firm. His clients have included Bell Atlantic, IBM, Hewlett Packard, National Institutes of Health, The Social Security Administration as well as many churches and businesses.

Pastor Carroll grew up and was saved at First Apostolic Faith Church under Bishop Winfield Showell and he labored there as the Organist for several of the choirs including the Echoneers. His work in the field of Gospel Music led to the creation of Baltimore's first black owned professional recording studio back in the 70's and his record production firm gained national prominence and major distribution through Benson Records.

He was called to the ministry in 1974 and worked under Bishop Alfred Reaves and his father, Pastor Carroll Johnson, Sr. at the Fellowship of the Jesus Associates until the Lord directed him to pioneer a new work in 1985. The church was first called Manifested Sons Assembly and began in Scotts Branch Elementary School with no members but a passion for rescuing people and bringing them to wholeness through Jesus Christ.

The name of the ministry was changed to Maximum Life Christian Church and the Lord has blessed in many ways with hundreds of wonderful saints, a 5 acre center on Woodlawn Drive that houses our King's Kids Child Care Center and our Summer Camp Evergreen. Phase 1 of our new Worship Center had its Grand Opening on April 28, 2001 on the same property. Our Maximum Life Community Development Corporation has not only spearheaded the establishment of our Child Care Center, but has been involved in Home Ownership Preparation Classes and the purchase and renovation of an apartment building for low income residents.

Pastor Johnson has served as the Bishop of the Suburban West District of the Mid Atlantic Diocese of the Bible Way Churches World Wide with Apostle Cornelius Showell as the Presiding Prelate. He has served as the Diocese Program Chairman with responsibilities for coordinating Diocese Conventions and the Monthly Diocese Pastors Meeting. On the Bible Way National level, he has served as the National President of the Pastors, Elders & Ministers Council and is currently the Bible Way International Convention Coordinator. In July, 2005 Bishop Johnson was elected to the Executive Board of Bishops of the Bible Way Churches World Wide which is the highest governing body of the organization. In March 2007 Bishop Johnson accepted the position as Diocese Bishop for the state of Florida and planted Maximum Life Church Orlando to serve as the headquarters church for the Florida Diocese.

In the community he has served as the Board Chairman for Potential Unlimited, a non-profit working with the Baltimore City Public Schools to bring self-esteem curricula and self-empowerment programs to school children. In addition, Bishop Johnson has served as Vice-President of the Board of Baltimore Cable Access Corporation, a non-profit charged with operating the Public Access Television contract for Baltimore City.

He has been married to the lovely and multi-talented Pastor Muriel Johnson for 37 years and has two sons, Pastor Duane Johnson, Keith Johnson and one daughter, Pastor Sherry Grant. He is also blessed with 4 grandchildren.
